Cookie Tips by Martha

I am always looking on how to improve my baking skills. I am sure one skill that comes to at least my husband's mind is I learn how to be a less messier baker! ha. If anything, at least Martha has some trusty tips that I will sure be giving a try the next time I bake!

A Chocolate Delight

I had some extra zucchini on hand but wasn't sure what to do with with them until I saw this wonderful recipe {amongst others}on one of my favorite food inspired blogs... The Soho!

Chocolate-Zucchini Cakes with Walnuts
Recipe from The Soho via Everyday Food

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup finely grated zucchini
3 tablespoons sour cream
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (3 ounces) bittersweet chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
nonstick cooking spray
24 walnut halves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, stir together butter, sugar, salt, and egg until combined. Add vanilla, zucchini, and sour cream and stir until incorporated. Sift flour and cocoa powder into bowl and stir until combined. Stir in chocolate. Spray mini muffin pans with cooking spray. Fill each cup with 2 tablespoons batter and top with a walnut. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of a muffin comes out clean, 15 to 17 minutes. Let muffins cool slightly in pans on wire racks before serving. Makes 24.

PS: They are so good that I am not so sure I will have any left to share!

Summer Beauty Essentials

With summer right around the corner I thought I would share what my three favorite products are with all of you. My first favorite product which I have been using since my high schools days is the Evian facial mist. Some people tease me that I use this product but besides that its a fan favorite of a lot of professional makeup artists, I love it for the fact that its refreshing especially after being outside, completing a workout, and most of all it definitely helps keep the greasies at bay.
I love the tarte cheek stains. They are an all natural makeup product, they have a nice scent to them, they come in a variety of colors, and they are very easy to work with without worrying about it giving you a streaky or too bold of a look. I currently use tickled.

My favorite bronzer of all time is by Trish McEvoy. I use a lot of her makeup products but this is probably my favorite one. It is a nice light bronzer that can also be built upon for added color. I like the duo as the lighter shade helps give you a nice youthful glow. A lot of the times I will use my Tarte cheek stain first and then quickly add on the bronzer for my face coloring and I am all set!

I love makeup and can be somewhat of a makeup junkie so if you have a product that you love I would love to hear about it!

Clawfoot tubs

I have said it before and I will say it again I heart clawfoot bathtubs. So in our next home {whenever that will be} I am going to make sure that at least one of my bathrooms has a clawfoot bathtub. In the meantime, how adorable are these three tubs? I especially love the red one.

Any of you adore clawfoot tubs like I do or have one in your home?!

My Wonderful Weekend

I am bummed that weekend is over especially since it was a fun filled weekend. We attended the peach festival on Saturday where I enjoyed some yummy peach pancakes and of course picked lots of yummy peaches. Then on Sunday, I was able to meet up with my dear friend Lisa for breakfast. Even though we were only able to spend a little bit of time together before her flight left it was still a nice time especially since I only get to see my close friends 1-2x's a year. I then closed out the weekend by seeing the movie Babies with one of my friends. It was cute.

How was everyone else's weekend?

I am sort of on a pancake kick so needless to say Saturday morning can not soon enough. Then on Sunday I get to see one of my dearest friends for breakfast and spend some quality time with her. I think its going to be a very good weekend~

Cheers to wishing you all a great weekend!

Mouth of Babes

{photo via here}

Nothing like talking about marriage with a group of first grade boys. Yesterday, during one of my groups we were having a party and enjoying ice cream sundaes with all the fixings when this conversation came to life...

One of the little boys says to me "Ms. Heidi, this sundae is so good I could marry it and also marry a blonde girl."
Another boy in the groups joins in and says "I want to marry a girl."
Me: "That's good, a girl like your mom maybe?"
Boy: "No, She is about to die"
Me: "Oh really"
Boy: "Yah, she is really old. My mom is almost 100 years old!"
Me: " How old is she really?"
Boy: "She's 27"
Me: "Oh your mom is young you have nothing to worry about. In fact, your mom is younger than me."
The group then goes on to ask my age. I tell them that I am 30 years old they say "Oh my goodness!" { I know so old right?!}
The third group member joins in and says: "I am never going to get married because I am going to be an Astronaut and I don't have time for a wife in space!"

What I'm Loving this Week

How fun are these tubs by Brody and Ma?! They would make the cutest touch to use for backyard summer gatherings where they can be stocked full of icy cold beverages or they can be used in the home to store lines, toys, clothes, you name it! All tubs are made to order so the print options are endless! Here are just a few of my favorite tubs that are already designed.
