Lessons from our Moms

I wish I could say I have a lesson I have learned from my mom but I don't. Or maybe I do. I don't remember much about my mom since she earned her angel wings when I was 11 years old. But, I do remember that no matter how sick she was while battling breast cancer she never complained and she did leave me with some special memories. Sometimes, I find myself complaining/venting about silly first world problems and then I will find myself thinking "really, this is not as bad as it could be or they don't mean to be this hurtful" so I let it go.

Now that I am a mom I want to make sure I enjoy the little moments with Elle and pass down the memories I have of my mom. Such as going to the zoo, trips to the Dairy Queen after swimming, and making sure she has a special birthday cake each year.

Being a mom is not an easy job but it is so rewarding. Even being an aunt is a rewarding job and I love how I have really close relationship with my oldest niece. In some ways she is more like a little sister than a niece to me. I think women of all ages can teach one another a lesson on something.

    I wish you hadn't lost your mom at such a young but I am glad you do have those memories, like trips to the zoo and the special birthday cakes she made you, among other memories. I am sure she's looking down on you and is proud of you for creating great childhood memories for Elle! I have definitely learned a lot from my mom over the years and am very thankful for her. I hope you have a special Mother's Day!

    I'm sorry you missed out on many lessons from your Mom, but I know she is smiling up in heaven at you. You are such a good mom to Elle - and she will cherish those special memories forever!
