Austin Eating Hot Spots

The past few days have been a whirlwind with a quick trip to house hunt in Austin. So excited, that we get to call this city home in a few weeks or months. I feel this move will never happen or at least not to my time frame, it's not happening quick enough!

We ate at some really fun places which I highly recommend you checking out if you are ever in Austin!

The first place to make my list was Annies Cafe and Bar located on Congress. The views outside give you a straight on view with the Capital. We had breakfast here on Sunday morning and the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Very child friendly especially during breakfast time.

Another popular must place to eat and see was Salt Lick BBQ. A lot of people bring their own alcohol and enjoy sharing a pack of beer with friends amongst picnic tables listening to the live music which was fantastic. So many kids were running around and dancing while you sit and listen to the music until your table is ready. They also have a kids play area which is nice for the older kids. If you don't bring your own alcoholic beverages you purchase on site. The brisket here is AHHMAZING!! I am not much of a BBQ person but this was so good I can't wait to eat here again. Again, great food, service and very kid friendly. Def a must place to take out of town guests.

Another hot place that came highly recommended and I can see why was Hopdoddy burger bar. Don't let the line out the door scare you as it really does move fast! They not only have tasty burgers but also have a tuna and turkey burger available. The burgers are huge and served on homemade buns. Very delicious! If you are traveling with a little one they offer a storage closet for your strollers and also have clip on high chairs.

and of course I had to scope out the cupcake scene. I saw lots of dessert and cupcake trailers but the one that caught my eye was Hey Cupcake! They have several trailers around town but how could I say no when one is parked next to our realtor's office?!
We bought a Michael Jackson and John Lemon cupcake. They both were delicious.

I know there are so many other great eating places that I need to check out so if you have any other suggestions to add to the list please share!

  1. Oh fun, looks like you checked out a lot of great places! When I was in Austin for work, the sales rep took me to another really popular BBQ place called the County Line or something like that? It was sort of in the middle of nowhere and you felt like you were going back in time a bit! But the food was SO good!
